The decision to purchase or switch to a new management system often hinges
on the amount of time needed to get the system up and running. This often
requires the entering of large amounts of data. In some cases departments
simply won't abandon their current system to avoid re-entering all of their
data. Fortunately, Alpine Software eases this transition process by converting
data from All Available Data Sources.
Alpine Software routinely converts data from state municipalities to develop
property databases and information from local water authorities to create hydrant
databases. We also rely heavily on governmental/state sources to develop maps
for the GIS system. Alpine Software also has the capability of converting data
from other management systems. The Table below lists out just some of the systems
Alpine Software can convert. Click on the product for a more in-depth look at the
conversion process as well as what can be converted. Additional examples of
conversions are also given.

Data Conversion Process
|
|
You as the user have a lot of say during the conversion process. The process can often take a number of iterations before it is in an acceptable format. A typical process would entail the following steps:
- User provides data to Alpine. Ideally we want some sort of ascii delimited file. However, we can and will export it directly from the native system.
- Alpine consults with the user to determine how the data should be matched up against the screens and fields within the RedAlert System.
- Alpine converts the data and provides the user with a system containing this first run of data.
- The user notes any changes and Alpine makes the appropriate changes.
The above steps continue until the data is in an acceptable format.
